Meh, not on a 450, unless you are a AA or pro rider. Air filter/fluids every ride and check/adjust valves per manual. If he is too lazy to find one himself and he is looking for a cheap CL bike he is probably a C rider in which case the bottom end should last 300hrs+ and pistons should last 100-120hrs.
