That's the 2014 edition on both the 1500, and the F-150 Ecoboost

Millage is basically similar, sorry for metric system ;)

Ram - 38,000K
F150 - 33,000K

the difference in price is 2,000 to the ford being more expensive.
both Crewcabs

as far as reviews went, I had seen this as the only review that favored one over the other.

http://www.carcomplaints.com/Ram/1500/2014/

http://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/F-150/2014/

everything else I see is basically exactly identical.

PROS RAM: upon test drives I found the Ram to be a noticeably smoother ride. and the steering.

CONS: I felt as if the hood was obstructing the vision partially, in the way I assume a nose ring would on a person, It isnt "in the way" as it is simply noticable.
I didn't feel like when I was accelerating down the highway and even in city, it didn't do exactly what I wanted it to do. I guess me and the truck just didn't have a feel for eachother yet.
the shifter was a weird dial, not a shift stick like everything in the world is.

PROS F150: I felt like I had a substantially greater view of the road and my peripherals, as well as I had more space inside the cab.
I felt when test driving, letting off the brake and pressing on the pedal it just accelerated and started going just as I wanted it too, where the RAM i felt when i was giving it what i felt was enough gas, didnt respond as well as I had thought.

CONS: Noticably bumpier ride.
Signal is fucking weird, push up half way to "switch lanes" three blinks, or push up all the way to turn... which it doesn't "click" it just goes, and goes back to neutral I found that weird and frightning since its new.

I know the idea of "not responding like i wanted it too" might seem weird, but I honestly just dont know how to explain it, I didnt do a good job.

Try giving it some diesel. Just a thought.

I'd also get silverado over those

Me too, but i'm biased. I can say I've never met a happy ecoboost owner that isn't in complete denial. They deliver less than advertised mileage and they advertise identical mileage to a silverado that has the mechanical simplicity of a V8. Taking repair costs into account it's an easy decision.

Not one to complain about not getting "advertised mileage" personally ;)

I never really took into consideration the mechanics of the Ecoboost either, would be alot harder to work on.

Really this comes down to what you are going to use it for.

If you pull things around more than once a month but you don't want to spring for a 3/4ton or 1 ton truck get the ram ecodiesel. The diesel will deliver more of the low down torque you will want when towing.
Also, if you do a ton of city driving during rush hour. Buy the diesel. Diesel motors are far more efficient sitting at idle in traffic going less than 15 mph.

If the above does not apply to you, buy an ecoboost. You will get more bang for you buck in a turbo gas motor driving normal speed limits and not towing than you would a diesel.

One thing to consider is how long you are keeping the vehicle. If you are keeping it past warranty go buy a v8 gas half ton truck.

Turbos, DPF filters, EGR's are not cheap at all. A DPF unit on a 3/4 ton dodge goes for around 2500 bucks retail. That's not including the installation if you can't do it yourself. The half ton trucks are not any cheaper. Don't let anyone lie to you.

Honestly if I were in the market for a half ton truck I wouldn't hesitate to just buy a v8 gas (ford, gm, or dodge) before a v6 turbo (Diesel or gas)

With all of that being said, I have two half ton ecodiesels at the shop that I've had for about 4 months now. For the light hauling/towing we use them for and the constant Houston traffic, they preform GREAT.

The air ride from dodge is also a far better ride than the coil/leafs that you can get in the other half tons as well. You pay for it but it is absolutely worth it.

Thats probably the best advice and decisions ive heard yet.

I will be commuting for work for the majority of its mileage, everyone argues go with a piece of shit fucking car than!
but no, Saskatchewan canadian winters last year long it seems, and work doesnt care if the roads are bad you should still be in 30 minutes early.
usually since i do contract work too, i don't have the luxury of a few red lights and im at work, its about a 40 minute commute down highways or sometimes backroads, thats why i chose a 4x4

and all that being said, i did make the decision of the ford, I have it parked in my drive way right now.

did one final test drive between the two, and the Ram didnt do anything spectacular to stand out and win me over... so i went with what i knew and loved

The ecoboost turbo kicks in way to easy having it burn fuel unintendedly when your just driving casually.
