1 question. Can you afford to fix a broken BMW that is out of warranty?

is this really that expensive to fix a BMW in the us?

here in germany every second underclass turk drives around in these old BMWs

So my friends uncle wants to sell me his 010 bmw for $15,000 which I'm really interested

http://i60.tinypic.com/fbhjxs.jpg

They posted for $19,000 but since I'm really close with my friend they would take $15,000

Car has most of the available options, including: Sunroof - Leather Seats- NAV - Xenons - Steptronic Shifting - Automatic Transmission, Power Front Seats, Leather Steering Wheel Trim, Cruise Control, Audio Steering Wheel Control, AM/FM/CD Audio System, Navigation System, Power Glass Moonroof, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Exterior Mirrors, Xenon HID Headlights, Fog Lights, 18 Inch Alloy Wheels, newly tinted windows and more.A/C ice cold, All scheduled maintenance, All records, Always garaged, Excellent condition, Factory GPS system, Fully loaded with all the goodies, Looks & drives great, Mostly highway miles 88k miles, New tires, No accidents.

Any opinions?

This car does not have extended warranty? 2010 is pretty new. Some of them will have warranty to 2016 and 100k miles

without warranty trade in value on this car, like bmw dealer or CarMax is only 12k $. Personally if its a close friend I would sell it to him for 14k. Probably should see tire conditions.

E60 are amazing to drive, but out of warranty is an issue. Maintenance is not that bad.

They can be, it's the reason I no longer have my '99 325is. Awesome car and ran/drove great, but after a few due repairs on the front suspension and bearings that totaled over 1500$, then almost 1000$ because of a stupid noisy alxe a few weeks after.... I let it go before anything else sucked up my money =/

I have a guy who owns a bosch srrvice center for german imports, his rate is like $65/hr, its a small shop but they are honest and do great work, and warranty approved. You just have to look around for a good german mechanic.

Only thing he doesnt do is trannys and alignments.

If the car has been well maintained its whole life, you're starting off well.

If you do purchase it, and continue with all the routine and scheduled maintenance, there is no reason this car shouldn't last you a long time.

The problem that we see with most failed BMW purchases, is someone buying a clapped out one, for cheap...And then get sucked into a world of repairs to bring the car back up to spec.

If you start with a nice car, and take care of it, you'll end with a nice car.

its a 528i so its slow as balls, probably ran nicely, my 335i lasted 105k before anything seriously broke and i drove it to hell and back but my motor was known for burning oil etc

the 528 is just an i6 n/a i believe
