Good information but a drop in filter, when appropriate, will pay for itself quicker than you think. But it's hard to calculate accurate mpg gains vs cost because it's so inconsistent.

I bought the k & n drop in for my car and I was just happy to take out the piece of shit egg carton filter they put in there.

You should look up the filtration rating of those oiled cotton gauze filters and decide if .01mpg is worth worn out valve seats and rings in a few years.

Most owners of a brz/frs have reported 2-3 mph gains. This will obviously differ from other vehicles. Any "hp" gain will be on top end but I did notice a throatier throttle.

Negative results aren't a gauruntee.

For me, $40 for a reusable filter with the possibility for mpg gains was worth it to me

I know that in my wrx, the stock filter is prolly whats best for my car. So I buy em from subaru for like 20

k&n has better flow, small power gain...but also lets more shiet in

worst are oiled ones, fcks your MAF sensor up

even tho they say otherwise..

A CAI/less restrictive filter on a stock car is just going to make that thing run lean, which is why you get better mpg.

You're just going to kill the longevity of your car. Keep that thing stock. $200 is a lot of gas money for a Corolla.

Edit: Give this a read- http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/airfuel_ratio_tuning_rich_vs_lean

Ignore the turbo stuff, since that doesn't apply. But this gives you a base idea, I s'pose.

Jesus christ, thats splitting hairs like a mother fucker. You won't see any significant change whatsoever by putting a cold air intake on it...

And what the fuck are you talking about running lean? Do you know what a mass airflow sensor does? Are you just talking out of your ass? He isn't strapping a turbo on a stock block, he's talking about putting a stupid fucking intake on it.

endrage.

Refer to this for my credibility towards non-turboed cars.
