Ive never had a problem with hids, very easy to install.

Most companies will replace bad products for free too

I got a $60 kit and have used it for 2 years with no problem I run whites, extremely bright and efficient

Hids are plug and play, attach ballast to stock wire, ballast to hid bulb, install, mount ballast. Dont touch the bulb with your fingers, use gloves. Bulb will explode under heat with finger oils on it.

There is nothing difficult about installing them, takes under 30 minutes

It doesn't sound like you used a retrofitted housing. It's different for every application as well. One of my cars is damn near a full day job to convert it the right way.

If you get the right bulb for your car it should be a direct fit, I dont see why you would need to retrofit anything

The hid bulb snaps in the same way a regular bulb does only difference is a ballast between your stock plug and the bulb

Unless you mean the cap that goes on the back of headlights, I did have to drill a hole in that for the wire to go through, they even gave me a rubber grommit to put in it

:wallbash:

Retro fitting projectors into stock housings.
Hids in reflectors suck and blind everyone around you. Projectors project the light appropriately , for performance and for others eyes

This.  If you are going to retrofit HID's do it right. I run Sylvania Silverstar Ultras in my stuff since i care about light output more than color and i'm not doing an HID conversion.  It is a pretty big upgrade over stock. They also make a zXe bulb that is supposed to mimic the color of HID's. If you have older sealed beam stuff good luck.

I use the zxe and they are bright as shit

Philips HIR bulbs with tabs trimmed to fit are the best alternative to HIDs (retrofitted). Every time I hear about some mook putting HIDs into a reflector housing I wanna puke, same goes for the newer-ish cars with halogen projectors....HIDs still are not right in there....alot of people don't seem to understand that there's quite a large amount of engineering and science involved when it comes to dispersing light properly. You can't just throw HIDs into a reflector housing....it might LOOK like it's more efficient because it's lighting up everything, but it's the equivalency of leaving your high beams on....light is going everywhere, glaring all over the place and blinding the shit out of everyone, no more proper cutoff line that the halogens produce. I don't understand why everyone is so obsessed with HIDs....HIR bulbs burn pretty white and produce a shitload of light, not as much as an HID but close...why go through all the hassle just for your car to look DOPE MANG...

I'd like to see you do an HID install on a newer Challenger in under 30 minutes, lol.

I've looked at the zXe for my car but have been hesitant as I'm not sure how much of a upgrade from the stocks it would be as I don't actually know anyone with them. They're pretty cheap but not sure If it's worth the money

Have you seen them? Is it worth the difference?
Doing hids on my car is supposed to be a complete pain in the ass so I have no intentions on doing those but was curious if the zXe would be a happy medium
