Look at it from an investment standpoint as well. If hes going to dd this thing and rarely tow. Buy a gas job.

If hes going to use it mainly for towing and keep the miles per year low. Buy the diesel...

From what I know of him he doesn't tow at all. Depreciation wise the diesel wins out every time but i think he would be opening himself up to a world of unnecessary headaches.

Absolutely just oil changes and fuel filters are way more costly. Then you factor in front end work and questionable transmission and headstuds are always a good idea. Mega $$$$. If I could do it all over again I would own a half ton.

I haven't had to touch mine outside of fluids and filters luckily. The rest of the truck is slowly deteriorating though. I'd rather do injectors than fix all the little bullshit things it needs. The right rear turn signal and tail light just stopped working for no apparent reason. Shit like that.

OP can get a sub 10k mile 2014 GM half ton with nice options for the same money as an 8 year old dodge. 1 has 4 years of warranty left.

I like those gm half tons. The fords are alright too, but they are too expensive IMO.

The GM trucks are crazy expensive too if you look at a crew cab 4wd LTZ Z71

But if you step it down to a double cab 4wd LT Z71 with the allstar package (almost everything from the Z71) the rebates make it affordable, and that has an effect on the used prices since this generation is brand new. I saw a double cab LT 2wd All star with everything but nav and leather seats (NN) with 8k miles at our local dealership for $27,800 last week. A 2009 LTZ 4wd with 80k miles is still at $22-28k. Derp.

Not towing at all, but I plan on driving a lot coming up in the next 2 years or so. And around 20 mpg hwy is pretty great for any truck, minus a v6, and we all know that's not happening.

And in the next 5 years, I was thinking about getting a 5th wheel.

Maybe ill just go get a 4.0 ranger aND buy the wife a pop up, bitches love pop ups.

Stud issues on a 5.9L ?? we ran 60lbs through stock grade studs with a girdle...

"cummins" call your mechanic? No... Dodge front end, Un-maintained 48rfe call your mechanic.

Get your shit straight before you spew it all over here fools.

Buy a "dirty"max and replace your injectors in an lb7, deal with def in a lmm and lml and replace the tie rods in every single 3/4ton or 1ton truck produced by gm with a diesel.

sup?
