Anyways to stay on topic. As mentioned these do have head gasket issues. Not a huge problem. You can fix these without removing the cab like the shit.0
To sum up the truck for you:
The transmission is bullet proof. If it ever breaks behind a non turbo idi please call me. I'd love to hear the "hold my beer and watch this shit" story as to how you did it.
The motor has the power of a 200k mile non-maintained 305 tpi, Smokes like a bogged down mac and sounds like a heard of 12 valve cummins during a cold start. Other than the head gaskets. they really dont make enough power to hurt them selves. Not quite as reliable as the 7.3L due to the higher compression but still pretty sturdy.
P.S. It will ride like a fucking lumber wagon as well. the 64 leafs they put in the springs are pretty unforgiving
