Take the bulb out, wrap in a damp paper towel and stick it in the microwave for 2 minutes.

HMMMMMMM sounds like your car is just cam'd.

I would just pull the CEL bulb out from behind the dash. Problem solved.

The clapping noise you're hearing, I'd suspect to be an exhaust leak somewhere. Either at the manifold or down the line. That could possibly throw a check engine light, since your O2 sensor would be freaking out.

i get a catalysor check engine.. also had a sensor problem eralier this year
