Miatas are sick project cars if you want performance.
You could manage a 400HP <2500 lb car with nearly 50/50 weight distribution for under $10k pretty easily.

I'd not recommend trying to learn basic mechanics on a newer import car which is practically entirely controlled by computers and other electronics.

But if willing to go for it - The Miata recommendation is a good one.

Had absolutely no idea! I've read a lot of hate about tuning miatas.

thanks for your input :) So many people talking about a Miata .. definitely going to have to look into this tonight :D

makes a fun street car.

Eagle talon or exlipse. Easy to work on and tons of info online and aftermarket.
