because GM doesn't have to go way way way way outside of their comfort zone to make a performance car so research/development budgets aren't used to start from scratch on their new corvettes.

I'd agree for the most part, but Porsche doesn't start from scratch on new 911's either. I'd like to see how much GM makes on each Corvette compared to how much the makers of the 911, R8, SL, F-Type etc. make.

It's clearly a volume pricing strategy. They could charge 120k and sell 1/10th as many. That is what happened with the ZR1.

plus the agenda of making the hellcat the novelty buyers choice whereas the performance/cosmetics crowd will go corvette.

there is no other platform out there that has the support of aftermarket that the LS does...
