I drove my civic for 15 minutes with absolutely no oil, It started to snow and it dusted the road. Was coming to a light and my car just would not stop, every time I tapped the brakes it would start to slide even just if I slightly pushed them. Well there was a new cts in front of my and I didn't want to wreck it so it was either jump the curb or hit the new cts. I jumped the curb and hit a street sign pole.. 3 feet either side I would have been fine, but it destroyed my oil pan put a 4 inch hole in it and all the oil ran out. I drove the car home with no oil and was fine. My cars temp never rose either.
You could have gone for longer most likely. Theirs going to be some residual lubricant coating the cylinders left over enough to get ya a few miles.
A local high school was having a rally/fund raiser at a car dealership in town. Just so happened to be where I traded in my Ford tempo, the best car I've ever owned.
My Tempo had over 200k miles, still ran awesome but the rear axle had issues and wasn't worth fixing. The school rally/fund raiser drained all the oil from the engine and stuck a brick on the gas pedal. Part of the $ making was betting how long the engine would last. It ran for over 9 minutes with no oil and bouncing off the rev limiter.
That friggin' Tempo refused to die.
