For 1000 bucks you can buy a beater early 90s civic that gets 10-15+ mpg more than the mustang, and parts are 10 fold cheaper.
I had a 1990 honda civic 4 door I did a SI swap from a CRX into that got close to 30mpg even with the gearing the way it was.
Yeah I get that, civics will always be cheaper. But Mustangs are nowhere near expensive. Older ones that is.
