well it doesn't matter anymore, lol. i've decided to fully upgrade entire exhaust system, so no more leakage.

One cylinder on my driver side between the head and the header leaks. I've taken it off and on at least 6 times, tried aluminum gasket, silicon rtv, factory gasket, no gasket, graphite gasket. I gave up and just let it leak. I thought about mushing exhaust sealant all up on it but I doubt it would last very long anyway.

Any reason why the mating surface would be warped or not cleaned ?

We use the composite gaskets with ultra copper and don't have many issues until we bend a header or get the motor hot or they need to be replaced anyway

well the place that the leak is at is being replaced. and its a pretty big leak. when i reach down to feel it it feels like an air compressor being blown onto my skin. its pretty strong, and it sounds like a ridiculous blow off valve when i shift. so even if it still has leaks, i'd be ok with smaller ones. the one i have is massive.

no.

fix it the right way

what the fuck is wrong with people

Wow you are a dick what is wrong with fixing a hole if it is tiny with some JB weld, or metal weld, Since guess what exhaust is made of? metal! tada. Notice I asked if the hole was big, I would never fix a huge hole with jb weld but if the hole is only like 1/4" to 1/2" why would someone spend 200+ fixing it when that is not even remotely necessary, you also wouldn't even be able to tell the difference at all if this was done, not like it affects the performance of a car at all.

Also considering most cars that are going to run in to this issue are older, he also said it could be temporary which my suggestion was perfect for what he needed your suggestion is not. Replacing the exhaust is a permanent solution not temporary

If I had to guess I'd say it's either a defect in the cheap obx headers or it's a symptom of the age of the heads (100,000+ miles) Idk though, I cleaned the fuck out of it all before I put them on, each time.
