You must have forgotten the runaway toyotas and flammable fords.
Toyota's recall was bullshit. The acceleration problem was because of floor mats being out of place......
"On February 8, 2011, the NHTSA, in collaboration with NASA, released its findings into the investigation on the Toyota drive-by-wire throttle system. After a 10-month search, NASA and NHTSA scientists found no electronic defect in Toyota vehicles. Driver error or pedal misapplication was found responsible for most of the incidents. The report ended stating, "Our conclusion is Toyota's problems were mechanical, not electrical." This included sticking accelerator pedals, and pedals caught under floor mats."
The Ford and flammable deal is questionable (imo) too. Sure theirs a problem but I don't look at it as the same mess General Motors is in. GM's problems is multi-layered with recalls to parts not even connected with each other.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2014/05/16/gm-recall-investigation-reveals-banned-words/9204611/Plus you can look at what the Government has decided by the fine they had to pay because of the recalls. GM's fines are nearly double of that of Ford.
Ford was fined $17.5 million
GM fined $35 million (so far)
^ Which itself is a joke. GM is fined $35 million after the Government bailed them out a few years ago.
