Not to mention the shotty 4WD systems dodge has been producing for YEARS and has done nothing about.

And also the automatic transmissions.

This doesn't say they are junk. All new cars have problems, all of them. GM is actually taking initiative and recalling theirs to fix them. To me that shows a trustworthy company, that when they fuck up, at least they fix it.

trustworthy company who hid the shit in the first place and endangered peoples lives. took a leadership change and a 35 million dollar fine later for them to finally say we fucked up.

Toyota's recall was bullshit. The acceleration problem was because of floor mats being out of place......

"On February 8, 2011, the NHTSA, in collaboration with NASA, released its findings into the investigation on the Toyota drive-by-wire throttle system. After a 10-month search, NASA and NHTSA scientists found no electronic defect in Toyota vehicles. Driver error or pedal misapplication was found responsible for most of the incidents. The report ended stating, "Our conclusion is Toyota's problems were mechanical, not electrical." This included sticking accelerator pedals, and pedals caught under floor mats."

The Ford and flammable deal is questionable (imo) too. Sure theirs a problem but I don't look at it as the same mess General Motors is in. GM's problems is multi-layered with recalls to parts not even connected with each other.

Plus you can look at what the Government has decided by the fine they had to pay because of the recalls. GM's fines are nearly double of that of Ford.
Ford was fined $17.5 million
GM fined $35 million (so far)

^ Which itself is a joke. GM is fined $35 million after the Government bailed them out a few years ago.

No way can you say that with a straight face. The reason GM is being fined $35 million is specifically because of how slow they were to respond and make the recall.

GM had first reports in 2001 of faulty ignition problems. They did some changes in 2006 with the ignition but didn't finally recall until late last year.

Gm is also under New ownership.... They are trying to fix it and go in the right direction..

yes they are taking a hit and feeling the pain of previous management failure

Fuck , gm is recalling like mad these days.... Good for them imo, no one would buynfrom them anymore if they kept going in that previous direction.

The number of recalls issued this year by the nation's top carmaker rose Tuesday to 29 as GM announced four separate actions affecting 2.4 million cars and trucks.

GM has recalled 13.6 million vehicles in the U.S. since early February. That's more than the total number of cars it sold here in the last five years, and already surpasses GM's previous U.S. recall record of 10.75 million vehicles, set in 2004. By comparison, rival Ford has recalled 1.2 million vehicles in the U.S. this year, while Toyota has recalled 2.9 million, according to federal data and the companies.

Detroit-based GM said it will take a $400 million charge for repairs on all vehicles recalled so far this quarter. That includes the $200 million charge the company announced last week when it issued five recalls covering 2.7 million vehicles. That's on top of a $1.3 billion charge the automaker took for recalls in the first quarter

Right now somewhere in the united states is a weaselly little corporate executive who a few years ago just finished college and got his family connections to get him a job at GM and then spent his every waking moment trying to find every last single corner GM could cut and every last job they could outsource and every last little penny they could squeeze out of the labor contract and he is just laughing and laughing counting his bonus money for the great big profit gains he made for GM for 3 quarters.
