Depends on what you want.

Do you want obnoxiously loud or just a nice throaty sound?

I want something that sounds "mean" while I get up and go, but I want something that is also quiet when I'm cruising.

Generally speaking flowmasters sound like poop on LSX's. They are restrictive, and not available in stainless. You get what you pay for. Magnaflow and borla are proven to have exactly the characteristics you are looking for. The Gibson killerme mentioned is a bit more exotic sounding and aggressive.

Why's that?

I think they sound great and make quality parts. Like FMX said they are a little more aggressive than your typical flowmaster setup but they aren't too raspy. And ya they do have a little more exotic sound.
