depends on the road conditions. if there is a layer of ice youre fucked. theres really no way to tell if he done something wrong or not because you dont know if something unexpected happened and he had to grenade the brakes and lost control or its ice or what. maybe hes just a bad driver?
if your trailer jackknifes the only way to get it back behind you is to hammer down and haul ass.
