AWD uses more gas, goes through tires twice as fast. FWD works perfectly fine in snow if you know how to drive.

I would go with something else over the focus ST,  I like the GTI's more. But if you are getting it for performance. Trust me when I say high power FWD is more of a headache then you may realize. Making close to 300 whp in a fwd car will result in no traction.  You can get plenty of decent low mileage rwd sports cars for the focus price. ANd have more performance options. Make 300 rwhp in a stock car instead of buying a new focus. dropping 2-3k into it to make stock rwd sports car performance, and not be able to use most of the power.

Prefers car with bottom 10 rank of engine failure rate over car with top 10 rank engine failure rate.

Eh I like GTI's a lot being as I'm huge on VW/Audi but I wanted change of pace. Atm got a 08 golf with things I've done to it.

Not quite sure what I really want.

Might wait for the new 2015 Golf R which is what I REALLY want.

No.

haha

If I was in the market for a hot hatch for whatever reason it's probably what I'd get, however I'd never be in the market for one in the first place so that's kind of a moot point. The Golf R is obviously the nicer car, but the price difference kills that.

OP, take a look at your other options in that price range. You have so many other options if you go a couple years old its not even funny

I don't really want a used car anymore. Unless it's maybe 1-2 years old at most and very low miles.

I know there's many other options but in quite picky and I like mod friendly cars.

Like Vdubs and such.. I know them more than most.
May either wait for 15' Golf R since that thing will be way better than current years R's, faster, better looking, everything.
Or maybe the 15' GTI since it will be nicer as well but not as much.

But the ST for what you get fully loaded and such is equal to or less than a GTI in price and faster.

Don't want a mustang or camaro etc either. I'm not big on Japanese cars either except maybe STI's but I don't like their interiors.

I got plenty of time to think for now so who knows. Evens decent used 335i I'd love. Favorite BMW model not including the usual.. m3 etc

And if you read just a BITTTT further you would realize I would never be modding a gti. Thanks though. I wouldn't be buying a fwd car for performance.

I also drive like I am actually a grown up too. So I am sure YOU would possibly blow a gti's engine but it would just never happen to me as I take care of my cars and do not treat them like trash, I am way past that stage in my life.
