I tried everything i knew. Tstat position will not matter btw
I dropped it off at a local shop. New set of eyes, i kind of know the guy and hes done lots of these cars. Maybe im missing something i dont know.

fans work. either way once its worked out, i dont feel too bad about all the shit i did, the cars got close to 200k on it and these things would have started going sooner or later anyways. minus that headgasket, but at the same time i got to clean everything up as if it was new.

E/ running better than ever with a spotless head, cleaned pistons and a gutted cat. I love this econobox even more now. All clunks and rattles included. Gm ftw

i came home and thought to myself (sober) wtf... i have gone through everything and replaced it. and was still not working.
so i figured im better off working backwards from what i did first, maybe ill find something.
just for the hell of it i took that tstat housing apart one more time ( takes like an hour to get in off... really stupid spot/set up for it and ive done it probably 5 times, a lot easier with exhaust manifold removed, etc etc )
and, dont get me wrong - this black cup or sleve that goes in after the tstat, only works one way. theres a slot in the side for coolant to flow into the heater core, and last time i took it apart it shifted during installation and was blocking the passage.

and no lol, my h/g was pushing combustion into the cooling system. i messed the tstat housing thing up when i was putting the head back on.

i was so close to taking up drinking after i got the h/g in there and i still wasnt getting heat. alls good

am i little embarassed? sure after taking half my motor apart, getting it back together , starting it, and i still had to come make a post online. stupid small mistake, what ever

^ knew i wasnt crazy about the coolant lines blowing up like baloons with original h/g, than feeling like rocks after h/g replaced. thats what got me decide to start working backwards, i was on the right track, just something els is in the way now.

was my first head gasket replacment too btw, quite a bit easier than i thought... even being DOHC & chain driven. i wont dread a headgasket replace like i used to, thats forsure. UNLESS im driving a boxer engine BRZ.. but then again ill know where i went wrong off the hop....
