The best help I can offer you for your 93 is a derogatory, "junk it and get a newer car." I've no idea about tuning one without the obdII

OK not even physical parts upgrades? not looking to blow $2k on exaust or $800 on a supercharger but, lead me in the right direction?

also would appreciate if someone can help me with the tuning/performance control

ive found a lot of chips that do not allow digital tuning:

i just cant tell which are legit, which are best or even which ones will work with my car; even though they all say they will im pretty sure some will in fact not.

adtr.net has a lot of parts upgrades

I can tell you what I've done to mine and list them in order that I feel is the best bang for the buck

rear control arm replacement with adtr's "heinous" control arms
trac-loc and 3.73 or 4.10 gears (this will definitely give you the biggest performance increase short of a new engine)
long tube headers and full exhaust (obx has a kit for $650, full exhaust if you're on a budget)
the 80mm maf and intake off a cvpi or a marauder
underdrive pulleys
kyb shocks and lowering springs
addco sway bars
75mm throttle body
port and polish your plenum
aftermarket brake kit, adtr.net sells one but there are more options

Also you can look into getting a new model intake manifold or an after market intake manifold
jmodding your transmission is cheap but technical and you need a clean place to work

gut it and use a cardboard box for a seat

best performance upgrade you're going to get without completely wasting money.

You're not going to make a 20 year old land yacht fast for $1,000, it's just not going to happen
I've spent thousands on mine and I'm barely in 13 seconds in the 1/4
I'm planning on putting a 5.4 in it sooner or later and even then 11s are the best I can probably hope for

if you want to spend $1,000 on it i recommend a sweet entertainment system for it. I built a tablet pc into my dash and it's a lot of fun

if you really want to make it faster though, go with the 3.73 or 4.10 gears and a trac-loc, should be able to get the parts and labor for under $1000 and it will make a HUGE difference in taking off

im actually most interested in the top end speed not the acceleration

i dont quite 100% understand how they are governed but im lead to believe that the tuners/performance modules/etc will allow it to open up further in top gear; i know when i top it out the motor has more.

i just like to drive i-95 at 3am doing 120+

///e

will the gears effect top speed?

also i dont understand how going 1:4.10 from 1:3.5 would effect the speed positively

wouldnt you want less turns of the crankshaft to 1 turn of the wheels, etc?

am i not understandng how this works?

omg bro seriously for the love god stahp doing that on the highway. I have a completely aftermarket suspension on my car, it's dropped an inch and a half and it has a chin spoiler and it STILL floats around when I'm over 100 mph. AND it a police intereptor with a stiffer body

Your car is a land yacht, made for luxury, driving at 120mph if you so much as turn the wheel to change lanes you're going to understeer straight like a freight train come off the rails
You absolutely do not need to be going faster than you already are

I am loathe to even tell you this but what tuners do is remove the electronic speed limiter that cuts off the throttle at a certain speed.

PLEASE DON'T DO THAT

and what steeper gears do is allow the car to accelerate faster. with my 3.73 gears at 6000 rpm I'm doing 150, you do not need to go faster than that, the car can't go faster than that, it can't even go that fast

actually my car maintains very good control topped out bro, i'm not a fucking idiot i dont snatch the wheel side to side but i do change lanes and ive never had a problem with over correction.

i am a really decent driver i just dont know a lot about tuning/upgrading/performance

i surve in and out of the lanes topped out broseph

also thanks for telling me what the tuners do because thats exactly what im looking for ^_^

its funny the one time i almost over corrected and hit a wall i was doing 65 but thats because a fucking semi came over into my lane and scared the shit out of me

I don't know how you lived to be 26 years old, I can't help but wonder if your profile is meant to say 1997 rather than 1987! As good as a driver as you might think you are, a 1993 mercury grand marquis can NOT handle at over 100 mph, you may swerve in and out of traffic but the moment someone does something unexpected, the moment something happens on the road, you're either going to try and stop your 4800 pound land yacht and just plow right into whatever or you're going to have to turn the wheel and nothing is going to happen.

And to say your car maintains good control at that speed is just ridiculous. I'm not trying to wag my cock around but seriously, my car is built, suspension wise, I got the stiffest strongest control arms around, front and back, it's dropped, it's springs and shocks are stiff as fuck, I have a chin spoiler, I have huge sway bars, I have a massive watts link. there isn't much you can do to make a panther handle better and still call it a panther, and at over 100 mph it STILL floats on the highway. There is no way your car handles at anything other than a straight line at that fast
