idk about cali, but here in ny, 15 over is only a 3 pointer, and usually you can get that knocked down to nothing or a 1 point because they do plea bargains here. but driving school, really? i had to do driving school when i got busted doing 117 in a 55, but thats because it was an 11 point ticket so i had no choice.

id fight it if i were you. the first court date they give you is based on the officers work schedule, cops have designated court days, so they issue the hearing to when the cop has court duty, however, what you should do is postpone it, that way the clerk whos in charge of scheduling at the courthouse picks a random date, which most likely wont coincide with the officers designated court days, meaning he wont show up. usually if you want a dismissal due to the officer not being there, they allow 1 more date to be issued, again in the cops favor so he can attend, postpone that and again most likely the cop wont show, then you can ask for it to be dismissed.

Its only a 1 point offense in CA but the point system is different im pretty sure. Supposedly my insurance can go up like 27% with 1 point so im not letting that happen at all cost.

I was told the same thing about cops showing up to court. I heard its even better because the holidays are coming up so there is a good chance he could be on vacation, etc.

Im gonna do the trial by mail deal and if I loose that or don't get a plea deal (no point on record) I will request a in person trial and postpone it as long as possible ;p

edit- If I can get it down to just paying the fine I will pay it in a heart beat I just dont want traffic school or my insurance to go up.

Fuck cali... that is crazy. 15 over is 4 points on a 12 point system here with 50% returned per year. The max fine for 15 over is $180. If we show up to court they usually drop the points to 2 from 4 or careless driving (no points) from a 2 point violation. My insurance didn't go up with my 4 point ticket on an otherwise clean record.
