the mustang will still shit all over it

2900lbs with 330hp or 3200lbs with 450hp and a shit load more torque, i wonder.

mustang gt with a package of your choosing is around the same price as the 370z touring.

3200LB mustang, ill believe it when i see it.

thats what all the websites are reporting. i know "reporting" and actually being are 2 very different things, but its been stated by ford that the mustang is going on a diet, and 3200lbs is what itd be. this current gen mustang weighing in at 3600lbs is the heaviest its ever been, 3200 isnt unrealistic for the newer gen.

Its been done easily with aftermarket parts on 2005+ mustangs. I dont see why it couldnt be done with a smaller platform and newer technology.
IMO Ford has some pretty high standards for their engineering lately and Id bet they could come close. They kill it on power right now

Except not really since the car actually makes enough power to be viable. Afaik they've been talking about this since long before the brz as well.

Ummmmmm pretty sure the "lighter z" was first reported shortly after the brZ release.

That is likely the target weight with the base engine and no options. Think about this. The C6 Z06 is a true 2 seater with an aluminum frame, carbon fiber and titanium everywhere, balsa wood floors, composite longitudinal leaf springs, and a composite body.

It weighs right at 3200lbs. The numbers don't add up for me. If they get a standard optioned v8 car down to 3400lbs I will be genuinely impressed. 3200lbs is reaching a bit far.
