Why dont they offer 2-3 liter 4 banger diesels? Or even i6s that are small so they are balanced
People dont need 550lbs of torque in a half ton(or less) truck
You could even use the current transmissions on these trucks without issue
250hp 350lbs of torque small diesel that gets 35-45 mpg would be nice

The performance upgrade has to be worth the price hike. Nissan doesn't have a 3/4 ton truck just like toyota. Their diesel is going to have to blur the line to sell.

I've been following the press releases on this. Curious to see what they do with the chassis on these lol

And ram already has their halfton diesel in production. Should be hitting the market 3rd quarter this year.

its a 3.0L v6 turbo diesel. 240hp/420ftlbs as of the last i heard. It's going to be a hit or miss thing. I'm personally leaning more towards a miss.

There's definitely a market for it. Much more so now then compared to the early 90's when gas was fucking cheap and people bought big blocks and v10's for pulling power. I think the diesel half ton's will gap the space between the gas halfton and the 3/4 ton.

Most people that own a 3/4ton gas or diesel truck never use it. they have a big ass camper or boat they pull around once a month. So their options are buy a gas 3/4 ton and hate yourself every day with the low to mid teen MPG or pull out a second mortgage on your home to afford a diesel. The diesel option for the halfton ram is a (dont quote me) but 2800 dollar option opposed to the now over 10,000 dollar option for the cummins in a 3/4 ton.

As much as i hate nissan and toyota trucks. If nissan can keep the cost low enough on the cummins powered truck, i think they will do very very well.

Your order is all fucked up my friend.

The figures I saw from GM put the diesel at about $5-6k over the base which is about $3k over the cost of the 6.2L. That is significantly cheaper than a 3/4 ton.

I agree with you wholeheartedly jimmy. Right now gas half tons start to suffer with anything over ~7-8k behind them. 3/4 diesels will pull double that without too much of a struggle. Like you said most people don't need to pull 15k or more on the regular. A 30ft+ pull behind camper is 9-12klbs. It is outside of what you csn pull comfortably with a gas half ton but doesn't necessitate a 3/4 ton diesel's price.

Buy a half ton diesel that pulls it just fine, save money and fuel. Mid 20's shouldn't be a stretch. More if we can get a manual.
