I'd talk it over with him once I had that title in my hand. Then if he got upset about it, I'd do it anyway and tell him to fuck off. Needs take priority over pride.

If I gave an impractical vehicle to someone and they traded it for something practical, I would be happy that I could help them get what they needed. It's not morality that would bother someone over this. It's pride. Just because someone gets all up in their feelings about shit doesn't mean that your needs are negated. That's the real problem with today's society. Practicality went out the window and was replaced by what used to be called nerd rage before it began to affect everyone over everything.

Its the way you go about it.

If someone is giving you a $2-3k vehcile for free. And you ASK them to if they mind if you trade it in. And he was to say some thing like " well, i think you should give the tahoe a shot, drive it around for a bit, see if you like it " And if you turn around, mumble fuck you and go straight to iCar to swap it. Theres going to be a fucking issue. REGARDLESS

Im sure this tahoe goes into drive, reverse, stops and steers just how it should. His NEED(S) to get to school/work/other driving around are NOT negated by ANY means. Just not his "ideal" way to do it? So what its free, Hes doing you a huge solid, so why disrespect?

free truck

the gas prices become irrelevant because you just saved $1k+

Sure the gas price becomes irrelevant if you drive it around for a few months... you keep the tahoe vs an econobox any longer than that and you just pissed that grand away in extra fuel.

That being said... IF you talk it over with him and he's cool with you trading it off on something more practical for your application do it.

I'd only keep it around long enough to save for a smaller car.

I have a year left of Highschool until college though. I would end up selling whatever car I had anyways
