Usually when I repaint trucks like this, I will spray what's called "Chip guard" down before painting. (only on the lower areas)

It is basically that texturized stuff you sometimes see on the rocker panels and lower parts of work trucks.

Very durable. Easy to apply. Comes in an aerosol. Sold at any auto store. Paint right over it, and you'll never see chips or rust again.

Matching the paint isn't easy. Your gonna be able to see it too, if your not experienced with painting don't expect it to look good, it won't. Run tape bumper level front to back and paint the lower half with rubberized undercoating, rhinoliner, plastidip, whatever.. then do it again 3-5 years from now.

Keep daydreaming about a decent paintjob..it won't happen your first try. I got a thick head too so I can't blame you for trying. If you like that truck though, don't make it your first attempt at painting lol.. different color is one thing, matching paint and blending will get you.

Considering the spot I'm painting is only visable if you like kneel beside my truck, I'm not worried about it...

Tears did his Camaro by himself for the first time and it turned out quite nice.

You don't learn unless you try.
