you know about mixing 2 stroke gas right? you are going to have to pay a lot of attention to your fuel levels because if you are riding with others and they aren't riding 2 strokes they can't help if you run out.

a 250 2 stroke is going to be a lot of power if you are just starting out...be very easy with it until you get use to it.

uhm... no... i just made sure i had a full tank on my yz250 and one of the 4 stroke fellas ran out of fuel on a 50km trail ride. i made it back with plenty to spare... so just make sure you have a full tank before riding

they can't help you by giving you some of their gas was the point.

no one wants to sit around waiting on someone to ride all the way back to the start and bring them gas.

I always rode with a backpack and kept oil on me just incase. Not hard to swash the tank around to mix it.

without measuring out the gas they give you then you do little more than risk damaging the engine or most likely fouling a plug and then needing tools and a new spark plug.

just not worth the risk of damage just because you don't keep an eye on your fuel level.

My buddy has a 3gal desert tank on his YZ250 and he rides with a camelback that has a pocket with a quart of oil in it. We can ride all day and night if we wanted just hitting gas stations every so often.

I do prefer 4 stroke though... nothing like riding for 50 miles in the middle of no where and pulling up to a gas station to refuel and you are on your way ;P

Btw I can tell just by the smell and color of his mix if its good to run or not... really simple after mixing 2 strokes for awhile.

ya once you get use to it its fine estimating since you don't have to be dead on with it. the problem is when you are having to mix like 1/3 a gallon of gas with oil out on the trail pissed off you just ran out of fuel...its not exactly a reliable process especially if you don't have more gas around in case you use too much oil. i never risked running out of gas on a 2 stroke just because how problematic it can be short of carrying premix with you.

and ya 4 strokes are sooo much more convenient when you get around to need more fuel. forgot to fill up your spare fuel jug? time to take some from someones vehicle!

alot of bike for a rookie. KTM are awesome bikes though. I have a 2009 honda crf250r i use for the woods (harescrambles) and a 2012 kfx250f for motocross

I race alot of hare scrambles, i run the NEOC series based out of NJ.

Motocross is deff more fun than the woods, but i love the hare scramble races because they are 2 1/2 hours long (i race the main). Moto is fun but it sucks when you only do like 4 laps a moto

Take an easy, start slow. AND STAND UP! You will be alot faster standing up than sitting down and youll save alot of energy. Grip your bike with your thighs. You should be standing like 75% of the time riding or more.

a 450 is the same size of the 250 its just more power. Not something you need when your just starting out. Yeah your tall but like i said 250 and 450 is the same size bike wise, just not motor and etc.

And 250 2 strokes and 450s race the same class they both considered equal. 250 4 strokes arent.

Until you can rip that bike pretty good stay with it.

Watch alot of videos on youtube. When going into a corner, say left, sit by the tank, hang off the right side of the bike a little to weight the outside peg and lean into it.
DONT LOOK DOWN. always look ahead.

Nice rig. If you're going to go KMC, just please please please dont put on some fucking rockstars or monsters. And with a 6" on a mega cab, 35's are gonna look pretty small, i would look into a 37.5 tire. Little more money but will look much better
