I've driven one before and they're great little cars.

I own a '12 Golf TDI as my daily driver, and had a hard time choosing between it and the GTI.

To each his own. I like the look, I prefer it over the Mazda3 and the Focus ST.

hard to explain, that's just a subjective feeling that comes or doesn't come with the car. german vehicles (specially VW) always feel kinda stiff, sterile, cold... on the other hand most italian cars have "soul" but lack german quality, precission in putting the car together, etc.

Yes but your opinion has been proven to be pretty much worthless.

The car is pretty nice all around. I'd be worried about long-term reliability but if your just leasing it then that doesn't really matter. Its not really a performer but its still fun to drive.

Volkswagen/10

VWs are awesome!
for the first year or two...
Then they fall apart faster than mega blocks.

If its something you want to keep a while I would think twice. I know several people with VWs and they are pretty much all falling apart after a couple years despite pretty decent care. The motors run great though.
