My very first car, a 1992 Nissan 240SX only cost $2000. Of course, not through a dealership, but it had rather low mileage and had zero issues with it.

this i bought a 92 tempo for 250 bucks did nothing to it and drove it for 3 weeks, sold it for 700 and bought a 97 taurus for 425 put two front wheel bearings in it and brake pads sold 2 months later for 1500

Yeah man, definitely one of my favorite cars too. Great handling and IMO very nice look especially with the pop-up/hidden headlights. Wish some manufacturers designed some new mass produced cars with that type of headlight :(

Just look for the newest/lowest mileage econobox you can find. My buddy was looking at a 2005 cobalt sedan with 70k miles on it for $3500 afew weeks ago. There are deals out there.
