... man i remember the fisrt time i welded, shit even the first few dozen times i welded...
It's a fantastic skill to have, but i wouldn't recomend the first time you weld to do it on your car  :P  things can get sloppy and go south before you even know what's happening.

PLEASE find some metal to do some practice welds before you take the torch to your car.

i will probably attempt to do some beforehand just so i get an idea of whats gonna happen. i cut the fender so that all my welds will be below the trim pieces and i should be able to hide them pretty well.

Welding body panels is not horribly difficult. Just extremely time consuming. Go with like a 1/25 heat to wire speed (must use gas and thin wire)

Depending on how long the seams are, it may take you an hour to tack and stitch the panel in place. Just dont rush, and let the area cool down completely before you weld there again.

Dont just weld in a straight line. Tack the panel in place and connect the dots.

I also recommend using some test 22 gauge sheet steel to practice on. And let me know if you have any questions.

On the Camaro it's not worth it to mess with the skin. Just get a door. Not sure if that was your plan, but it's such a pain to get it right.

And the quarter panel is not gonna be easy. I've got some dents on mine as well. Not sure what I'll end up doing.
