That is the best oil and lubrication forum on the internet. Interesting theory he has... Synthetic oil that resists dilution by fuel does not mix well enough with the fuel to adequately cover the apex seal therefore conventional oil (and shorter change intervals) are better in the Renesis application. I read that in 09 Mazda added another oil injector to lube the center of the apex seal.

Are you premixing? Lots of people that don't trust injection pumps/systems premix their injection oil with the gas just like a 2 stroke motorcycle (so use 2 stroke oil). I know there are huge threads about it on the RX-8 forums. I've had good success premixing my diesel. Different rational, same practice though.

Are you using it for the added Zinc everyone claims it has? IIRC they changed it a few years ago and it now has normal levels of ZDDP as compared to other diesel oils. Lots of guys used to use it in their race cars because it was cheap, available in bulk, and had high ZDDP. Your best bet now is with Redline, Amsoil, Brad Penn, or Joe Gibbs if you want ZDDP. Amsoil and Redline don't have quite as much but they are the two best full synthetics by a mile.

yea ill try redline and amsoil on my next couple oil changes. Only reason i went to rotella was because i was burning mobil 1, and researched that rotella, amsoil, and redline were always great in our cars.

Mobil 1 is shit. It was hot stuff around 2000. Then they merged with Exxon, and they stopped improving the oil it seems. Everyone else caught up, and passed them. I know a lot of people that run Mobil 1 in their LSX equipped vehicles because it has Mobil 1 on the oil filler cap. What they fail to think about is the car is over 12 years old in some cases. A lot has changed since then. Lots of performance engines eat mobil 1 really fast. I know my stock bottom end LS1 did. I switched to German Castrol 0w-30 and oil consumption went down to under a quart per 3k miles. That is within the range they were engineered to use.

Amsoil is good stuff but you are wasting money unless you have good enough filtration to keep it in there for a really extended interval. On the opposite end of the spectrum a lot of Cummins guys get 30,000 miles or more out of an Amsoil fill up with a second bypass oil filter installed. They change filters every 10k and the oil stays for 30 or more. Redline is good but also really expensive. Conventional performance oils can do just as good of a job but require a shorter change interval. It's all in what you want.
