What is everyone's thoughts on this? I have 4x alloy rims right now on my car, but i have been getting vibration issue on the highway. One shop told me one of my rim's is bent they noticed when they did a tire balance, they threw a bunch of weights on it and it helped a little the vibration is not really as bad anymore. Every time I get a tire rotation the vibration goes away (because the bad rim goes to the back) now that i rotated them again I can feel it again because the bad rim is in the front of the car now. At first I thought it was tire blanace issue, but now that I nkow it goes away upon rotations and this mechanic noticed a bent rim, that has to be the issue causing the vibration on the highway. I can get a cheap ass black steel rim for $64, than pay someone like $20-40 to swap it out.

My only concern is the weight difference of the steel rim vs alloy, will this cause any issues over the course of the life of my car? I commute a while to/from work, usually do around 21,000 miles a year on my car 75% highway driving 65-80 mph. Or should I save up and shell out the extra money on a brand new alloy rim.... was trying to avoid doing that since I just dropped a lot of money on my car for maintenance but if one steel rim will cause issues, than I'll just save up and buy an alloy rim instead.

Thanks!

For 100$ you can go get a junkyard rim that matches with halfway decent tread and just put on your truck.

Since it appears you're trying to "fix" this while spending as little as possible.

Not EVERYTHING is visible by eye.

And take-offs is exactly my point.
Maybe it's not like this by you, because you know.
You're actually from the south (right? Lol)

But here in Chicago, we have a plethora of wannabe redneck fuqbois with mommy/daddy money that don't give a fuck about anything.
Gotta be REALLY skeptical on CL around here.

Whenever dealing in auto's its buyers beware. Nobody is generally less honest than a car salesman.

That said, you can find honest people in the auto industry. Usually they are a bit more expensive or take a few days to get an appointment but in the long run (imo) worth it.

You are in Chi-town. No reason what so ever you can't find anything you've ever wanted on craigslist....within a few hours drive.

Milwaukee/Kenosha to your North

Lafayette/Indianapolis to your South

Fuck Iowa to the West.
