Situation: I am 27 years old, living with my girlfriend in a single home. Once she's out of school next December and can help me with the mortgage we plan to buy our first home together. (Single homes in my area costs $500-700k so even though I can make the 20% down, a monthly mortgage of that rate is a bit heavy for me to take on alone). Figured this is my last chance to buy a NICE car before the big house, then kids, and then kid's college, etc....

Even though the rent is cheap, the homeowners are not my parents and are not understanding (They take up both spots in the garage with their own cars). My uncle says I'm crazy to buy an $80,000 2017 Corvette C7 Z51 and park it on the driveway, but the way I see it, it will only be for a year or two at most. Can't be too bad if I just have it professionally detailed once a year right? Will parking it outside ruin my paint and what not?

Can I get some opinions?

My uncle is under the idea that parking it outside will somehow damage the paint and/or fade the color, etc... I've never owned a car longer than 2-3 years so I do not know.

I currently park my Mercedes outside without issues, figured same shit with any other car.

Sigh. There are two types of people. The first would actually try to help by offering their honest opinion and those who reply like you. Yes, I make a decent amount, but I am by no means bragging. I don't know much about car care and just wanted to seek help in the car sub-forum.

Ps. These numbers are not even brag worthy as every young professional in the DMV (DC, Maryland, VA) area makes close to or around 6 figures due to higher cost of living. Really, its nothing special.

During the week I stay at my house in town and my truck sits outside all week. Not by choice but because the garage has 7 foot doors and my truck is to tall.

If you are truly concerned about preserving the paint just put a car cover on it. Then be pissed at yourself for using a car cover and putting scratches in the clear coat.

My neighbor has a lamborghini aventador that sits outside in the driveway so i'm sure if that hasn't blown away a c7 vet will be fine.
