Vehicle: 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 6.0L gas 4x4 with an Air Flow plow.
I am going to plow with it this winter even if it is only my driveway (It's over 800 feet long) and probably some parking and work spots on my job sites. I work construction and will have a bunch of ladders and heavy equipment on top plus the plow, so I want a 12 ply tire (load range F) in a snow tire. I am not opposed to buying them online and I would prefer to keep them the same size as I have now 245/75/16 I think they are 30.5". My budget would be in the $1,000 range or so. I also want something aggressive, but not something that hums going down the road because I will be driving this truck this winter to Texas at Christmas time. Does anyone have any experience or advise on the subject? Should I go with E rated tires like I have or go with the F ? If you need any more info, post up, or flame away.

Trucks gorgeous man, I love it.
Nice plow

You definitely shouldn't need a F load range tire..

Thanks, so far she has been treating me good. I wonder about weight rating. I put a good half ton of equipment on it and that plow is probably another 400-500 lbs I'm thinking. I also could potentially put a back bIade on it, which adds more weight. I also usually have a couple guys riding with me another 6-700 lbs. I like the idea of 12 ply over the 10 ply for running over nails and screws on job sites. Would they hold up better or get pierced less possibly?

Puncture resistance should be about the same. I'd say E range and air em up.

also according to tire rack in that particular size you cant get an f rating tire and a winter tire together. e is highest. but it should be well more than enough. the only thing i dont know about is loudness on the highway and how they wear on dry roads. how many miles will your trip to texas be? and truck and plow both are nice.

A 12 ply on a 3/4ton is going to be pretty fucking ugly to deal with bud. Would be a similar effect to running a bias ply tire.

8/10 ply d or e rated tire will be ore than fine.

Most 3/4ton truck tires are 3200+ cap anyways.
