Multi-purpose Recreation Vehicle


1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 5 Speed

Vehicle Details

Posted initially on Craigslist for $3,300. These things are hard to come by in manual and range from $2500-$5000.
I haggled him all the way down to $2,500.
Paid $45 to get a full bumper to bumper inspection done, all fluids checked, all suspension checked, yadda yadda. Came out to needing:

Body (Will fix these after I check into some salvage yards/body shops):
Has a small dime size piece of rust over the passenger door near the roof.
Hood has two small dime size pieces of rust on the front corners.
Grill and passenger front fender are replaced due to being curbed by previous owner (into a pole... idk, w/e). Primed pieces, the grill is paintable, the fender is dented so that'll get replaced.
Needs a new front bumper, will probably just get one that has a brush guard, nothing too fancy.
Interior carpeting will be replaced with a brand new molded one-piece sheet.

Mechanical:
Engine coolant flush
Rear diff. fluids replaced
Front diff. fluids replaced
New transfer case output shaft seal, was leaking moderately
New front differential pinion seal, was leaking lightly

Electrical:
Auto Locks / Auto Windows didn't work correctly

Moving previous topic discussion to here, other thread is supposed to be closed because I forgot red lol.

Anywho: went 4 wheeling and splashed into some deep puddles, and check engine light did come on. Severe rough idling at first. Waited 30 mins and was able to start her right back up.

I initially had it towed to a shop and then decided to man up and self remedy. Took apart the distributor and found water in it. Cleaned it all out, sealed it with Permatex Dialectric Grease including all 7 plugs on the cap itself, and the plugs to the sparkplugs themselves. Now I should be golden to splash around some more.

Ran a can of 44k with a fresh tank of 91 Shell gas and within a gallon of running she opened right back up without any problems.

Suspension purchased (Skyjacker 1" transfer case lowering kit, Rubicon Express 3.5" lift kit with twin tube shocks):



Presently going to attempt to waterproof my stock air box in some sort of jerry-rig method, as a snorkle runs $650 and I don't plan on submerging myself up to the windows.

Also on the list: running axle breather lines, a transmission breather line, and a transfer case breather line which will all be T'd to the transfer case line behind the passenger side of the motor.

My girlfriends been trying to get rid of it for so long. Im honestly suprised noones bought it cause of the soft top and its all lifted n everything. Some redneck highschool kids missin out on some serious pussy

Give me some info on it, year etc..

And theoretically would you be willing to meet somewhere else? Like maybe in GA or SC?

I MIGHT be interested in it..
