I know nothing about cars. Was looking for some advice on why my truck stales when I put it into gear. Starts ok. But, soon as I put in gear, it stales. Unless I leave it running for about 30 minutes. Usually only happens when it's like 20 degrees or less, which is often here in PA lol. I drive a 95 Nissan Pathfinder.

Is there an additive or something that I can use to prevent this from happening?

Change your oil

my oil has been changed recently

1 foot on break
Other foot slightly on the gas
Put in gear


Don't go retard strong and mat the thing when putting in gear, light throttle. Obviously not a permant fix, but I image it would get you to work in the morning for the time being.

That or google the problem, chances are there is 7284747 other pathfinders with this problem.

What do you mean "standard"?

I tried the foot on the gas trick, it didn't work for me. I was googling stuff that said indications of a valve not opening during the cold, so they recommended that method. I don't think it worked for me.
