So I own a 99 Honda Civic EX
Long story short I crashed and ruined my front end and mangled the body of the car.
The engine and trans still work
So heres my plan, Im looking to buy another Honda Civic that I can throw my engine and trans in (I say this cause i figured its cheaper then buying one that is 100% working)

What I need to know is

1. What year/model Civic can my engine fit into? (I THINK i can only use 1999-2000, but I would like someone to verify)
2. If my Civic was automatic, do I have to swap into an automatic?

There's literally millions of these common cars. Why the hell would you want to keep your current motor/trams and swap it into another honda civic ? Is it built? Brand new oem? What makes you want to do this lol ??

Keep it as a parts car IMO?

Waste of time . My 97 working civic cost me $1200.

96-00 EX would be the easiest to work with. Drop in and go.
96-00 DX/LX/HX etc will need a little bit more work like vtec ecu and vtec solenoid
92-95 will work with a jumper harness, ecu, solenoid, etc
01+ is nty
and pre 92 is just too much of a hassle for what its worth.

Here.
1. I get to Learn about engines for free via working on one if I do this
2. I don't have to pay the mechanic who is going to help me cause its my father in law
3. It's cheaper to buy a shell and throw my engine and trans in it rather then buying another car that is operational already

It's going to cost you more swapping the motor and trans than it will just buying one outright.

You have to factor in your time along with fluids, small parts you break ect ect. This shit always nickle and dimes you to death.

Actually 99-00 would be easiest since he has OBD2B. If he were to put 96-98 he would need a new engine harness for the OBD2A.

oh and just buy another EJ6 for around $1300 decent condition.
