I'm thinking about buying a Subaru WRX STI 2015. I like the looks of it, from what I heard performance is the same on the car.

Why? It is already the top of its class. That is what aftermarket parts and tuning are for. The 2015 responds amazingly to mods, and is already in the 9s.

It's a completely different car now unless the reviews are lying. Sure, it still uses the Impreza chassis, but Subaru has gone far enough to separate the two by doing away with the Impreza name entirely for the WRX and WRX STi models. Apparently the WRX and STi chassis is comprised of some thicker steel in key areas as well as a more rigid floorpan. Personally I have a 2015 WRX on order and I loved it when I drove it. The interior is better than previous generations, and while the car may seem underwhelming in pics it definitely has a presence when you actually see it in person as so many have said; that's when all of the fender bulges and the more aggressive aspects of the styling actually stick out, the photos don't do it justice. I went with the WRX because I think the STi just comes with a bunch of features I don't need as well as still retaining the tried, tested, and proven BUT dated 2.5 which only makes roughly 40 hp/tq more than the WRX and yet the WRX supposedly still has the same 0-60 time with the new FA20DIT. Plus getting 30 mpg highway is impressive in a WRX. Either way it's a nice car and you will enjoy it. The only reason I'd get the STi over the WRX is because of dat boxer rumble.

I personally dislike the '15 series. The new turbo is twin scroll, which sure that is amazing for performance, but the downfall means it can only run with equal length headers.

So, no Subaru boxer sound. My buddy has a '15 STi and I've driven it a bit (still stock) so it's really hard to compare it vs. the feel of mine ('14 STi) which has about $5,000 put into it.

I'm not a fan of the sideview mirrors being mounted on the door. I delt with that while driving a 2012 Impreza and the mirrors were constantly in the way when trying to view through a turn.

And lastly, never buy the first year model of a new car, wait until the next year model is released (No 2015, wait for 2016) because by then, most of the kinks are fixed out of it (I.E. Electrical issues, technical issues, etc).

If you're going for a stock car that you don't plan on putting any money into, then just get a 2015 WRX I s'pose, as mentioned above. Has SI-Drive and better MPG, and if needed, you can maintain yourself whilst flying onto the highway or fighting through traffic if you're an aggressive driver.

Only the new 2.0 motor in the WRX has a twin-scroll turbo with equal length headers. The STi still has the 2.5 with the UEL and the boxer rumble.

Yeah thanks, I copy/pasted from another window incorrectly (on iPhone). First paragraph was supposed to be last paragraph and referring to what I said lastly of buying just a WRX. :P
