I live in a state with a rough winter, so I really don't want a small sedan or a sports car

I really need something reliable, something that will last me for a while and not cost me too much in repairs

I have 3,000 to put down on a car and a 600+ credit, but I am a student in university so I do not have a full time job

do I need to find a used car I can buy outright or will a dealership let me buy a used car?

I heard toyota, honda, buick, and hyundai are the ones I should be looking at for a mid sized used sedan

they wont give you a loan unless you can prove you make enough to cover a decent amount

atleast thats how it was with me

plus they look at how long you've been at your job and what you make monthly, that will be what they base your loan off of, and if youre a full time student it wont be a big loan

i would just buy a used car for 3-4k while in school and then get a FT job and then worry about auto loans

If you put enough down you can get out of the proof of income BS usually. The dealership was hassling me first time I bought my 09 focus until I showed them $5k cash. If it is a good enough deal for them they don't give a shit where you work, etc.

I'd buy a used Jeep Cherokee. One of the safest vehicles you can own plus they own winter driving.

If too truck-like for your taste I'd go with a Subaru. They do well in ice and snow.....as long as its not 3+ feet deep.

I would've suggested a Subaru as well, but a 3k budget isn't quite enough for a decent one.

Personally, I'd recommand a 2000-2005 Hyundai Santa Fe that's still relatively clean.

well, im from wisconsin, and id have the say the best vehicle to have in winter is an amc eagle

5 speed manual, with i6 and 4wd
