Are there any tips or ways that proper shifting should be done? Or things that everyone should know that I might not?

It's going to happen unless you powershift it which is where you leave your throttle foot to the floor and bump the clutch as you shift. It is very hard on the transmission especially if you fuck it up. As such i wouldn't recommend it for a bmw driver. I wouldn't want to pay for a clutch and trans rebuild in that.

Going to change out the spark plugs next then maybe a short shifter before I get downpipes and intercooler

Nitrous tends to help turbos spool a bit

335i turbos spool stupidly fast, you shouldn't have to worry about it overly much.

Is it the stock turbo? How many miles on the car?
