How much
full-tilt hard core downhill riding are you doing? Is a full suspension bike really needed....?
imo - Ya may be able to get a lot more "bike for the buck" going with a hard tail and only having front suspension. Like already mentioned in this thread, look online for individuals selling used because sometimes you can find awesome deals.
Personally I have an old Trek 850 which has had practically every component upgraded. I've seen a lot of riders with full suspension who really don't need it.
Its not the bike.....its the rider.
Just sayin'
nah man,
I went to Mont St-Anne and there is a chairlift to bring you up the hill

And about the what kind of downhill riding, I did only one day (7 rides) and it's full downhill, no need to paddle as the slope is steep and there is ALOT of jumps/drops/curves mixed with giant rocks all around with small rocks to shake your bars !!
so hard tails are not an option !!
And like you say, it's all about the rider, but I have to add that the bike is 10% of the performance, and maybe even more in this kind of rides.

get a dropper seat post.
so worth it
just lock out your shocks and extend the post and you can climb right back up the hill you came down
nooooooooooo
chairlifts man ^^) or at the very least a truck to get us up

I'd like to ride in skiing centers.

Buy a giant 29er and be done, would get more value buying used as long as it's in good condition
