Looking at a 2005 Ford F150 FX4

Asking price is $17,995 (I'll talk them down a little).

It's loaded, leather seats, sunroof, etc. Interior is sharp.

If I get it, I plan on throwing some new tires on it. Ideally, 20'' rims (or maybe 22?) so what size tire would be ideal? What's the most common tire size upgrade on these? I've never owned a pickup before, but I do want to get it lifted somewhat. I read that it's best to just do like a 2.5'' lift on the front and not mess with the back?

Anyone have one, or know about lifting on them and ideal upgrade rim/tire sizes, etc? Pics etc.

Does the wheel size matter? For example I can run 20's with 33s and a 4 inch lift?

Feel like that would be a good look.

My tundra has a 3 inch leveling kit and I fit 35s under it.

Haven't found much better in my area (DE/PA) price wise. Plus i'm sure they'll come down a little, and as I said it's loaded.

my dad had an 04 lariat for 120k miles and he had lots of issues with windows and then eventually engine knock. So those would be two things I would look for when you check that out

Trucks have a lot more room in the wheel well so there isn't one tire size that works best. There are websites that do tire size conversion for you. Once you find out what size tire will physically fit you can use that site to find out what that size correlates to in a different wheel size. Generally speaking any negative offset on a wheel over 9" in width is going to start pushing the tire outside of the wheel well and you will get mexi poke.

I wouldn't bother with a leveling kit in the front unless you are going to replace shocks too. By lifting the front end 2.5" with a coil spring spacer you are making the shock travel 2.5" higher in it's stroke. Bilstein makes shocks that are designed for leveled front ends.

6" of lift just to run 35s?!?!
That seems excessive. I fit 35s on my Jeep with out even lifting it. Now im lifted 2.5" and think i could even fit 37s
