I am trying to buy myself a snowmobile but im really novice about it, dunno exactly what model i should buy.
Looking to spend ~60-70k euro for one.
Atm i have my eyes on a Ski-doo Summit Freeride 800 154" 2011 and Lynx X-Trim 800 RE -10.

Someone could tell me the big difference between them and which one would be a good purchase? Both are around 70k euro.
and yeah maybe some information about what i would like to do with the snowmobile :P I dont want one that you only can drive along the snowmobile trails, also want to drive around in the powder B) So a 50-50 snowmobile that u can drive both on and off the trails.

and while om here someone could tell me the difference between a Ski-doo Freeride800e-Tec 154" 2011 and one without e-Tec? Just a Ski-doo Summit Freeride 800 154" 2011

Thanks in advance!

Bombardier's E-Tec two-stroke motors emit 85 percent less pollutants than previous carbureted 2-strokes.

Hm ok, but is having the E-tec motors any benefit for me or only for environment? Now that it pollutes less maybe it use less fuel ? or?

idk about snow mobiles but the etec motor in boat is awesome. you dont need to service it for like 1000 hrs or something high like that.

its made by same company so should be legit.

ok, so having a E-tec motor is in some what a long term investment. Motor will need less care?

Go with the freeride, they have a more narrow stance so they're easier to sidehill as well as lay over in the snow. They also come with a better suspension that is more comfortable for jumping. e-Tec motors > ptek motors

Once you got comfortable on it, learn how to adjust your clutching and suspension to your weight. It will make a night and day difference.

I'm not very sure if it's more reliable, me and a cousin had gotten new rides before winter started. She bought a Ski-Doo with an E-Tec motor, and it didn't last very long until she had some electric problems and wasn't able to start it (It didn't have a pull start). While she parked it for a few months, waiting for the piece to come in and install it, I was tearing up the trails on my MXZ.

e/ I'm from a small villie in Alaska, and we utilize snowmobiles and four-wheelers as our main transportation.

e/e/ I once blew my head gasket, and totally hated my Ski-doo since it's hard to get in there. It's even hard to get to the spark plugs. And maybe it sucked for me because we didn't have a garage.

e/e/e/ I'd recommend a 600 if you have a wider range on what snowmobile to buy, but that is just my opinion. You still get a lot of power.

Imo, these guys can go into technical detail, but dont get an 800 if you dont know what your doing or even what your up Against.. Unless your 250+ pounds yourself. That machine is a boat compared to a 5-600 for an avg size guy under 200 lbs.

Your going to get stuck, your going to fall off and kiss the handle bars. Keep that in mind...

Ok so it would be enough to have a 600 snowmobile to go nuts in the snow? :) Guess it would be better for my wallet as well :P

Can you ride snowmobiles legally if there's a lot of snow?
