I recently moved to the Houston area, went to get gas at a local place and they charged my card 100.00 for a pre-authorization. I know most of them will charge the card 1.00. It wouldn't be a big deal but the 100.00 was never put back into the account after it was withdrawn. i got gas on saturday morning so i figured by now it should be back in the account. The gas i pumped was also taken off the account. Just curious if you guys have ever seen that on your statements.

I've never even been charged a $1 "pre-authorization" to get gas. . . $100 is absurd. In their defense, it can take 3-4 business days to be put back into your account.

Were you at a diesel pump in the truck/equipment line or a regular pump? Commercial stuff I could see that but not at a regular pump. Most just have an auto shut off at 75 or 100.

one of local marathon stations does this too. they have stickers on the pump and they can put like a 100 dollar preauthorization hold on your card until payment is made. its fucking stupid. i usually get gas at a small mom and pop store by my house anyway i hate those chain gas stations.
