Hey.

i've found out that my kx 450F 4-stroke was drippin' oil from the bottom of the motor block.

Since i dont know all Words in English i rather post some pics ( says more than a thousand Words obv )

What can be done here? is it posible to weld it ( its aluminium ) ? and as u can see there is a hole. it goes all the way inside the engine, not the first hole but the second.

holy shit..

You might be able to get that welded up and tapped properly but it looks pretty bad. That whole piece looks like it's ready to fall off.

Might need a new case.

Helicoil or preferably tap it for 1 size bigger oil plug. They are available online. Then run a bead of rtv around the sealing area after you degrease it with some brake cleaner. Let it set up until it skins over and gets rubbery then put the bolt in. The torque spec for the drain bolt is really really low. Over torquing and stripping are really common

Holy shit did you tighten the plug with a 2 foot breaker bar?!?!

All bs aside that is pretty bad... you could pay to have it welded and then retap it or just JB weld the shit out of it and hope for the best.

Either way unfortunately I doubt the results will be very satisfactory.

Edit- Ya forgot bout Helicoil that is pretty common also

I've always had good luck with helicoils. Being a machinist might help with that though.

I don't think a helicoil is the solution here though, there's a LOT of damage there; one tap size bigger wouldn't cut it either, I don't think.

One thing you could do would be to buy something like a male 1/2" NPT to female 1/8" NPT fitting, drill out a monster hole, tap it 1/2" NPT, then thread the fitting in permanently. Use a 1/8" NPT male plug as your oil plug. NPT (National Pipe Thread) is tapered, so it would be self sealing on the aluminum case without any need for teflon tape/pipe dope.

Like this:

You'd have to drill a huge fucking hole to thread the 1/2" NPT plug in, but it would get rid of all that damaged material. You can get 'em made out of aluminium too, there's all kinds on eƁay.
