"The next Titan will make use of a 5.0-liter, turbodiesel V8 from Cummins, the Japanese company announced at the start of its Nissan 360 industry showcase."

"The 5.0-liter V8 is expected to generate well over 500 pound-feet of torque - likely closer to 550, based on the language in the press release - along with over 300 horsepower."

There have been rumors in the air for a while that Toyota will be getting a diesel engine from Caterpillar for the Tundra, but who knows. There is already a diesel in the Hilux, but no love for the Tacoma :(

that would be a HUGE surprise seeing as how cat quit making diesel engines for big trucks because of emissions. i really dont see them coming back in a pickup truck where emissions are going to be a bitch

Gm designed their light duty diesel in 2007. It was economically unfeasible at the time due to the recession. Many people in the industry think GM will be the first to offer a 1/2 ton diesel.

The last 2 iterations of the duramax have had very little design input from isuzu. Statistically it has the least design and build quality issues out of the big 3.

Why dont they offer 2-3 liter 4 banger diesels? Or even i6s that are small so they are balanced
People dont need 550lbs of torque in a half ton(or less) truck
You could even use the current transmissions on these trucks without issue
250hp 350lbs of torque small diesel that gets 35-45 mpg would be nice
