Pretty much bought a yz 125 the other day for 400 bucks. (1999)

It starts first kick and idles fine, the guy hadn't ran it for over 2 years so I assume I need to clean the carbs and change the gas/motor oil.

The one problem i'm having is it's stalling in first and IF i get it to start rolling and hold first it bogs down and dies if I give it any throttle. Could that just be because the carb needs to be cleaned?

He also said the throttle was "dragging" not sure how to fix or what the really means.

Put a new plug in it, some fresh mixed gas, clean the carb and try again.

Do you know any good guides with these? I've been looking and all I find are amateur videos with terrible quality.

I've got the carb out and I drained the motor oil out of the bottom of the bike.

Another question i've got is where do I drain the actual gas/oil mix as I'm sure that's old as well.

Should be a line running from tank to carb, take the line off the carb, open the buttefly valve, drain.

Alright that's what I assumed, so far this thing seems like a steal for 400 bucks. Especially since I really want a bike I can learn the basics with, such as these things.

I'll keep this thread up to date and I appreciate the help so far.

My first was a 89 rm125 I paid 400 for also but that was in like 2002.
Lots to learn if your new to that kind of stuff. Maintenance is a big one.

Yeah thats why I want to flush everything and learn before I really learn to ride. I rode quads my whole life and I understand the clutch concept so i'll be fine with that.

Any tips or anything else I should flush/check before I start riding?
