I've never heard of an axle back having any real effect on performance. On the other hand, the full kit means only a minimal difference if you aren't planning on further mods.

Type of car? New mustang based on your avatar? By full system you mean a mid pipe and axle back? Or headers midpipe and axle back? Headers will make more power. I dont think fhe factory axleback on the mustang is a restriction at stock power so it would just be for sound. Full exhaust and a tune is a BIG jump on the 5.0's. Im no expert on them though. It will help to know what you have.

The mustang in his sig is a v6. But regardless, you won't see any kind of gains from an axleback, but even with the v6 the full exhaust and a tune will net something. You're much better off just putting the money towards a 5.0.

It's a 13 v6. Worth the work imo. Still, what do I know. I drive a 99 v6 and it's worth the work to me

I have a red x for his sig. Just the ava shows.

I am fundamentally against modding a car that doesn't have the performance engine even if it makes 300hp. It just seems like wasted money.

Just depends on the owner/driver to me. Mod what you want. The fastest street legal car in Mtn. Home AR is a Geo Metro With a Ford 3.0 duratec. How? Dunno. You can see him raping everybody who pulls on the bypass any Friday night though.

That is all relative. If he lived here he would get a TT viper up the tailpipe. You can mod what you want no doubt. It is the fact that certain parts cost the same and you get less return for your money on the non performance engine.

A procharger kit is $6-8k for a v6 and a v8. One will make 400hp and one can make 800hp. You could take that 6k and trade up for a v8 model.

Then you don't have 6k for a procharger kit, you've still got 400 hp, and you're paying insurance for a v8.

I agree entirely. I don't see a point in spending the money to upgrade a car when you could have just put that money towards the much better performing car in the first place. Those V6s actually do see gains though surprisingly. Afew have cracked 12s with bolt ons. Then again, for the money they spent they could have ran high 12s all day with a stock 5.0.

The insurance difference between a v6 and v8 mustang is negligible. In the end you're left spending more on a slower less reliable car, as it wasn't meant for that much power. Procharging a v6 mustang is the definition of stupidity to me.
