Was looking to get a new car soon, and let my girl drive my current car.

Im interested in upgrading to a 98-02 LS1 Camaro, but im also thinking of getting a C5 Corvette, it would most likely not be a Z06 but even the base one is fast / faster then an ls1 camaro.

I really don't know what else Id buy, so im looking for ideas, Id want something sporty not a 4 door.

Im open to anything really though, I got about 1000 a month I could spend on a car payment alone, but id rather spend 250-500

Thanks

Getting a loan for either of the cars you mentioned is hard unless you bank at a credit union. They are 10-17 years old for the vette and 12-16 years old for the Fbody. The corvette will make you buy expensive parts to mod it. The Fbody won't. The corvette is actually easier to work on except for the electrical. They are good cars but you had better love it. If you dont't love it you will hate it because they all turn into money pits. A fixed roof coupe is a very cheap way to get near z06 performance. A small cam and coil overs pretty much erase the gap between them. An Fbody will be much cheaper to buy and own though.

stay away from those gen camaros, apparently there was a massive recall, they attract deer and its really problematic.

ask tears- he can tell you all about it.

but for real if you can spend 1k a month for payments, why not slap a few grand down towards a new car?

Hm that's probably true, I don't see but like one near me online though, unless I suck at searching.
Im located in NC, so Id hope I can find one within like 200 miles or so.
I see more Camaro's then Vette's, Id own either, both are fast / nice, plus owning a Ls1 Black camaro it would be like his n hers haha.

Although the V6 has enough for fun around town I wanna really get up n go :D

Hm so get a Camaro? Ya they are still fast even stock, Id only really wanna do headers back, intake and whatever is needed for a mild cam.
Would that add any hp really?

I was thinking about this as well, I mean I got a grand+ a month to spend on it, but thats the extra money after all the bills ya know, id like to save some of it.
Prolly best if I just did buy a new car, but I dont wanna spend 40k on a car.

I was wanting to jus buy an older car for around 10-16k with low miles (under 60k)

Have you looked at a CTS-v or GTO I know you said no 4 doors but the CTS-V is an amazing car(as long as you have the newer rear end/upgraded rear end)
LS2 GTOs can be had for 10-12k and might be easier to get a loan on since they are 2005+ same mainly with the cts-vs

If you can make payments and want a new car I suggest a v6 mustang
They are pretty quick and decent looking/optioned.

You might say I want a v8 but a V6 car is nearly 10k less(1/3 or so) and can be modded to be very quick
Same driveline I think so they can take good power

Dat depreciation yo. It's a nonconcern for you since you didn't pay for yours. C5 vettes and ls1 fbodies will be appreciating soon. C5 z's already are.

Op a fixed roof coupe or FRC C5 can be picked up for around 15k. That is the body the z06 is based on. Aside from the brake cooling ducts they are identical on the exterior. The ls1 makes 350hp as opposed to the 385-405hp in the z06. With full exhaust and a tune you can cover that gap. On the street you won't notice much if any difference in handling or braking.

Edit: long tube heades and a tune are worth 20whp. Ls6 intake is 10whp. A cam can be 30-100whp depending on how big you go with it. Lsx's respond to mods extremely well.

Actually YES
I was looking at Ls2 Gto's I really fucking loves those cars, and whats nice is you don't see a lot of them around here.
My only issue was how damn heavy they are.
But 400 horses they should still be quick. :D

And the main reason Im wanting a new car is cause I want a fast v8, I own a (in my opinion) and SEXY ASS v6 camaro, I love that car to death, just wish it was faster. :P
