My first choice is an E46. I have some sort of attachment to this model because it was my first car.
Still looking for the right one.

My second option is to get a 2010 328i coupe with 25000 miles for about $26000. M-sports package and a sweet color...Le Mans blue
has 1 year bmw warranty left

----
Am i not thinking rationally? Should I just get the E92? possibly tomorrow morning.
I'll probably get more peace of mind regarding repairs and maintenance costs, but I'll stress out more about cosmetic damages..

On the other hand, the E46 (especially 2000-2002) is a beautiful car and has become a classic for me. BUT, its going to take a loooooong time to find one that has a reliable engine and a good previous owner.
I am not sure if ill be able to dedicate a good amount of time to take care of this car, and it could possibly turn to shit prematurely, like my previous E46.
Towards the end of the lifespan of my previous E46, it was verry stressful worrying about maintenance and repairs.
But, if I find the right one, I think that it is possible I could enjoy it more than the newer E92. I feel like its got more personality.
The cost for 4-5 years of ownership is probably way cheaper as well. Unless I fuck up with my purchase and end up having to spend loads of money on it.

---
So it basically comes down to this:

E92: Peace of mind

E46: personality and a personal relationship with the car

what would you choose?

If you are willing to spend 26k on a e92, why not buy a e46 m3 ? You love it, it looks great, + Its like the best m3 ever. Much faster, more"street cred" I guess from bmw fans.

I'd personally choose e46 m3 and work from there, if I would have more money to spend on that car tune it a little

edit: e92- safe, reliable car that wont need input
e46 m3 - fast, everything u want in a car, BUT can break down and you need to keep it in a good condition

Depends on personal situation. I tend to stray away from Turbo vehicles due to maintenance costs.

He is planning to buy a BMW, he should already know about maintenance costs especially since he has owned one before.

There are so many bmws on the market with around 30,000 miles because nobody wants to deal with mainenance.

Idk, I usually like to buy cars that don't need heavy maintenance by 30k lol. I thought BMW's were worth so much because of the quality? And he said that he stressed a lot about maintenance on his old BMW...I would think a Turbo would further his stress. That being the case I would at least get the one with the warranty left....

Bmws are a killer in maintance. Not only are the cars more difficult to disassemble, but parts are more expensive.

BMW quality is moreso cosmetic

thank you very much for the responses :)

I verrrrrrrrrry much would rather take an E46 M3, but i'm not sure I'll have the time or patience to properly maintain one...

I need to do some more thinking.

Also, I think if I do go with an E92, I should be looking for a 335i, rather than a sports package..
