So I haven't had the time or extra cash to do a 5.3 or 6.0 swap so in the meantime I am going to get my truck CA smog legal so I don't have to worry about illegal smogs or getting pulled over and/or running into a mobile sniffer.... BIG Fines!

Anyways my truck sounds like shit because one of my exhaust manifolds is cracked badly and was redneck repaired prior to me buying it. Also I don't have a cat right now (from OK) and its just 2 cherry bombs for mufflers :wallbash:

I bought some wanna be CARB legal shorty stainless steel headers for $150 shipped. Then went ahead and bought a CARB legal high flow magnaflow cat $150++ shipped :mad:
Finally I just went with a 16in long Dynomax race bullet for $50 shipped because it was cheap and it should quiet it down with the cat on there just enough not to be loud or drone out.

Plans are custom 2in Y-pipe into a 3in collector. Run single 3in pipe into the cat and then 3in to the race bullet and dump the 3in pipe a couple feet after the cab prolly near the rear axle.

I also plan on pulling my TB and cleaning it because it really needs it. Gonna clean & redo my K&N filter also.

I might get hassled for the headers because they aren't CARB legal so I am going to go to a buddy of mines shop that does smog's who doesn't give a shit about visual as long as it passes the smog part. FYI there are like 2 brands that sell CARB legal headers for my truck and they are both $650+

Just found out the plug for my 02 sensor was messed up pretty bad. Ordered a new one just in case that is what has been causing my check engine light to come on randomly.

Everything should be good to go by next week. Will do a quick vid for the sound when done.

Wow I am really impressed with these headers for $150 shipped. Flange is thick. Nice welds. Bends look good. Finish is nice. They even sanded the welds pretty good on the inside of the ports.

also, summit should have smog legal headers/ normaly by pace setter for the 305 under 250$

just make sure u use nice copper or aluminum gaskets, and if u dont have stage 8 locking hardware for the headers, make sure you check them every few start cycles for the first month or 2, they will come lose

haha ya according to CA I am supposed to have mud flaps, lowered headlights, remove my tint, etc. etc. :wallbash:

I wrote down the CARB # from Gibsons shorty header that looks just like these. If anything im gonna try to printout a CARB legal cert deal and bring that with me. Orr I will just drive to fontana and have my buddy do the smog for a little more money that doesnt give a shit about visual.

Stage 8 locking header bolts are kind of a PITA to put on (did them on my bros 98 cobra). I just went with regular bolts for ease of installation. I need to write it down somewhere to remember to check on them so I dont forget haha

they are a pain in the ass, but once they are on, your done

the head lights shouldnt be illegal....

52 inches from the gorund to the center.....
