I am not bitching, Im just sharing my day..cause i know its my fault and all.

So yesterday I got pulled over for no registration. I completely forget to renew it, first time i ever forgot this. I was pulled over for no registration. So the cop asked for my license reg insurance, i told him my reg is expired but handed him my old card anyway, along with my license and insurance card.
Well come to find out, my insurance isnt valid. My dad carries my insurance and he dropped it 8 days ago, WITHOUT telling me at all (parents are divorced but i maintain contact with my dad frequently). I was on my way to pick up a bike for a friend, i was towing a really small trailer he let me borrow to get it. Which THAT wasnt registered also..

So i got 5 tickets and my car got impounded.

Ticket for no insurance, court required
Ticket for no registration on car $54
Ticket for no insurance on trailer $54
Ticket for failure to exhibit insurance document $180
Ticket for failure to exhibit registration document. $180

I asked the cop why i got tickets for failure to exhibit and he said legally he can write that even though i provided them but they werent valid.

But i have a clean driving record, no points, no speeding tickets, etc. Cop talked to me and said just get insurance on it today, and reg it, and when you go to court bring the documents. Since your record is clean they will "most likely" drop the exhibits, the no insurance should get plead down to a failure to exhibit insurance. Which in NJ, no insurance is serious, its like first offense, mandatory 1 year suspension, 300-1k fine, $250 surcharge at DMV for 3 years

Car is registered and insured now..i have it back already, moral of story..stay ontop of your shit..

So we will see what happens..Hopefully my clean criminial and driving record will be in my favor and i can catch a break ;(

Dang man that sucks!

They should drop it once you take in those documents, I know they did for me here in Texas.

None of those are moving violations (maybe the insurance one, but not here in Houston), they wouldn't go on your record. Just pay the fines. If you do get any on your record you could deffer them in court.

shitty day...

I got hit with no reg once, they didn't tow my car (i pulled into a parking lot when he lit me up), i went into court they asked to see my current/renewed reg, and said don't let it happen again.

shouldn't be a big deal if you don't have a criminal record. just make sure you show up to court

They towed it cause no insurance. In NJ you have to have insurance

But yeah even the cop said once i bring the documents to court they "should" drop most of the tickets.

Only thing im worried about is the no insurance ticket. Because if they decide to not lower it...its 1 year license suspension and shit first offense!

you could always hire a lawer if you're worried about it. seems like the 400 bucks it would cost is well worth being able to drive for the rest of the year.

Well, im hoping my perfect criminal record and my clean drivers license goes in my favor =/

I got insurance on it last night, i registered it first thing this morning, i got my car out impound soon the lot opened this morning.

I really wish my dad told me he dropped it.. insurance is the only bad part of this
